The choice of a foundation for a wooden structure is mainly related to the analysis of the soil on which the developer is going to install the house. In addition, the type of foundation is influenced by the climatic conditions and the financial capabilities of the future owner of the property. There are several types of foundations that are actively used in the construction of wooden structures.

Platen

This foundation is considered one of the most reliable, which is primarily due to its solidity and large area. Such a foundation can be built on almost any soil, even without a detailed geodetic study. The peculiarity of the slab foundation is the lack of deepening, due to which the base “floats” with the house, ie, the movement of the soil does not affect the strength of the structure. For light buildings, such as a bathhouse or a garage, a shed, a thickness of 10-15 cm is sufficient. For a residential building, the required thickness is 20-30 cm. A slab base is one of the most expensive options for arranging a foundation.

Tape

Tape also belongs to the category of the most reliable. This is a monolithic structure, located not under the entire building, but only under the load-bearing walls. The peculiarity of the tape base is the solidity and closedness of the contour. Such a foundation for a log house holds the load well on sandy, gravel or sandy-gravel soil.

It is advisable that at the place of laying the foundation there was as little moisture as possible. It is not difficult to check this: it is enough to dig a hole 1 m deep (not counting the fertile layer) and, if there is no water, you can safely start work. If, nevertheless, moisture is present, then it is necessary to deepen the trench more than the calculated value and use a double layer of waterproofing.

Columnar and pile-screw

This is the most economical option; you can use used metal or asbestos-cement poles. However, there are limitations that you need to know about in advance. A columnar foundation should not be erected on weak, moving soil. Also, the structure will not work if you plan to build a basement, basement floor. Such a base is well suited where the soil is stable and there is some relief - the pillars will help level it. It must be remembered that the supports must be dug in below the freezing depth.

The pile-screw foundation is of the columnar type; the difference is that at the end of these piles there is a groove with blades, which, like a self-tapping screw, helps the pillar to screw into the ground. The installed piles are tied with a metal "belt" by means of welding. The main advantage of such a foundation is the speed of construction. The reliability of the base depends on the quality of the piles, related to their thickness, metal strength and the thoroughness of anti-corrosion treatment.
