Necessary

  • Computer,
  • cooler,
  • machine oil or other lubricant,
  • Scotch,
  • scissors,
  • syringe with a needle, screwdriver,
  • cotton buds
  • screwdriver

Instructions

Step 1

The first step is to open the system unit to find out which cooler makes an unpleasant sound and needs cleaning and lubrication. After we have determined which cooler is responsible for the unpleasant sounds, we need to turn off the computer and disconnect the connector that connects it to the motherboard or power supply.

Step 2

Next, unscrew the screws that attach the cooler to the computer case or open the fastening devices that connect the fan to one or another computer board. After that, you can start the cleaning and lubrication process.

Step 3

Clean the cooler thoroughly. So that dust does not get inside. This could damage the device. It is best to use a cotton swab for cleaning.

Step 4

Now you can start lubricating. Carefully remove the sticker located at the very center of the fan. Remove the rubber plug that hides the fan bushing and axle.

Step 5

Apply machine oil using a syringe and seal with a rubber cap. Make sure that no oil seeps out when you close the lid and does not get into the place where the sticker was.

Step 6

Place the sticker back. If it has lost its adhesive properties, use scotch tape. Trim off any excess tape.

Step 7

Now you can put the cooler in place and connect it to the connector. Before closing the system unit, make sure that the cooler is working properly by turning on the computer. Enjoy the silence!
