Necessary

  • - scrapers;
  • - a sharp knife;
  • - water;
  • - Bordeaux liquid.

Instructions

Step 1

In the first year of planting a young vineyard, keep the soil in a loose state, constantly clear it of weeds. Examine the embankments in the spring. Where there is a lot of soil, ease the growth of the shoots by scraping the crust on the mound with a scraper. When doing this, be careful not to damage the shoots.

Step 2

On self-rooted and grafted young vineyards, carry out catarovka (removal of superficial roots). This process has a beneficial effect on the development of the heel (root) system. Spend katarovka on the twentieth of June. Make holes 13-14 cm deep around the plant. Use a sharp knife to remove the rootstock and superficial roots. For the second catarovka, which is carried out in mid-August, leave open the place of the rootstock and scion adhesion. This promotes better adhesion and ripening of the shoots.

Step 3

Young plants have a poorly developed root system, so they are very sensitive to insufficient soil moisture. Water the vineyard at least 5 times per season, depending on the intensity of the rainfall.

Step 4

Protect the young vineyard carefully from pests and diseases. When the leaves reach a length of 5-7 cm, spray the plant with Bordeaux liquid (0.5%) to prevent fungal diseases. Subsequent spraying is carried out as needed with a 1% solution of the same liquid.

Step 5

In the spring of the second year, install a support on the planted vineyards. If the young bushes are well developed, pinch the shoots. In this way, you can trigger the development of stepchildren and use them for an early entry into the season of fruiting.

Step 6

Toward the end of summer, chase (vigorously prune) the shoots. To do this, cut off the tops of the shoots above the 15th leaf from the base. After minting, all nutrients will go to the clusters and roots, and in old plants - to perennial wood, significantly improving the ripening of berries and vines.
