When carrying out repairs indoors, wallpaper the ceilings first. Only then proceed to the walls. Ceiling work requires physical strength and skill. Try to hang out the ceiling with a couple of friends or family members. Hands will not be superfluous. Ensure that there are no drafts, close doors and vents. If you have open places with electricity - sockets, switches, lamp outlet - insulate them or turn off the plugs.

Necessary

  • - Wallpaper;
  • - stepladder;
  • - wallpaper glue;
  • - bucket;
  • - roller;
  • - plastic pallet;
  • - brushes;
  • - painting knife;
  • - pencil;
  • - clean rags;
  • - mop;
  • - roulette.

Instructions

Step 1

Check the ceiling for wall-papering readiness. The surface must be leveled, primed and well dried, with no remnants of old wallpaper, paint or chalk. There should be no untreated leaks or moldy spots. If your ceiling meets all the requirements, then take accurate measurements from it and go to the store for wallpaper.

Step 2

Buy all the materials you need at once. For vinyl, paper and non-woven wallpaper, the adhesive requirements differ. Pay attention to the instructions. Do not forget to look at the roll label for the fit of the panels, with this in mind, choose the number of wallpapers.

Step 3

Cut the panels according to your measurements with a painting knife. Add a couple of centimeters to each piece just in case. Prepare all strips at once. Do this on a plastic wrap spread across the floor if your wallpaper needs to be greased with glue. Non-woven wallpaper rolls dry on the ceiling; no backing is needed for them.

Step 4

Dilute the glue. Pour water into the bucket in the amount indicated on the package. Pour in the glue and stir well. Let it sit for 15 minutes and swell.

Step 5

Draw a line across the ceiling. Focusing on it, you will attach the first page. Set aside on a plane from the corner the width of the roll and with a pencil on the level make an even straight line from one wall to another. Stick the wallpaper so that the light falls along the canvas, that is, from the window to the opposite wall. Then the joints will be invisible, even if you are gluing the wallpaper with an overlap.

Step 6

Moisten the roller in a bucket of glue, wring it out in a plastic tray and coat either the cut panel or the ceiling if you have a non-woven base. Fold the wallpaper from the edges to the middle.

Step 7

Stand on the ladder close to the wall. The second person hands you the edge of a folded, smeared piece of wallpaper. Attach the canvas to the ceiling, referring to the drawn line. A partner, picking up a mop, should hold the strip rolled out behind you, pressing it to the surface.

Step 8

Expel glue and air from under the cloth. Make herringbone movements with a plastic spatula, smoothing gently from the middle to the edges. The stripes should be free of wrinkles and bubbles. If glue gets on the wallpaper, wipe it off with a cloth.

Step 9

Paste on the rest of the wallpaper strips. Gently join the panels so that the gap is not visible. If the wallpaper has a pattern that needs to be adjusted, do not misalign.

Step 10

When finished, close the door to the room. Try not to go there in the next day, so as not to arrange an extra draft. The wallpaper should dry completely. After that, you can cut off all the extra wallpaper pieces that go onto the walls with a painting knife.
