Good, reliable contact at the junction of electrical wires guarantees the proper operation of any device, be it a chandelier or an iron plugged into a power outlet. Poor connection of wires, on the contrary, leads to unexpected problems in the form of faulty electrical wiring.

Necessary

  • - pliers,
  • - screwdriver,
  • - connecting sleeve (for crimping),
  • - lugs for wires (for crimping),
  • - terminal block,
  • - dielectric PVC tube (cambric),
  • - insulating tape,
  • - soldering iron,
  • - knife,
  • - solder.

Instructions

Step 1

Method 1. Twisting. Use a knife to remove insulation from both ends of the electrical wires to be connected - about 15-20 mm. Connect the wires by twisting them together.

Step 2

Press the twisted bare wires against one of the wires to be connected. Insulate the connection with insulating tape. This method is used as a temporary connection in the absence of the necessary tools and materials.

Step 3

Method 2. Soldering. Strip the ends of the electrical wires to be connected about 5-10 mm from insulation.

Step 4

Put a pre-prepared cambric on one of the wires - its length should be enough to close the junction with a margin.

Step 5

Tape the ends of the electrical wires to be connected with a soldering iron and solder. Connect the ends of the wires together and solder.

Step 6

Slide the cambric into place. Insulating tape can be used instead of PVC pipe.

Step 7

Method 3. Terminal block. Strip the ends of the wires as in the previous method. Put the ferrules on the bare ends of the wires and crimp them with pliers.

Step 8

Insert the lugs of the wires into the terminal block and fix them with a screwdriver.

Step 9

Method 4. Connecting sleeve. Clean the ends of the wires to be connected, put the prepared cambric on one of the wires.

Step 10

Insert the ends of the wires one by one into the connecting sleeve and crimp it with pliers.

Step 11

Slide the cambric into place. You can also use electrical tape.
