Instructions

Step 1

Gloves are recommended when using potassium permanganate. But if it was still not possible to protect the skin of the hands from this substance, the soiled area can be cleaned by applying citric acid or freshly squeezed lemon juice on it. Both the one and the other means must be held on the skin for 3-5 minutes, and then washed off with warm water. You can also clean your hands of potassium permanganate with hydrogen peroxide and acetic acid.

Step 2

You can wash potassium permanganate from a white cloth using a solution of oxalic acid. It is easy to prepare it. One teaspoon of oxalic acid should be diluted in 100-150 grams of pure water. The resulting product must be applied to the potassium permanganate stain and wait 15 minutes. Then it remains only to rinse the contaminated area of the fabric with warm water.

Step 3

Instead of oxalic acid, you can also use a 10% hyposulfite solution, which you can buy at a photography store. A place soiled with potassium permanganate must be moistened with hyposulfite, wait a few minutes and wash the thing in warm water.

Step 4

It is much more difficult to remove a potassium permanganate stain from woolen fabrics. Wool is an organic material. Therefore, it is absolutely impossible to expose it to prolonged exposure to hydrogen peroxide and any acids. You can try to remove the potassium permanganate stain from woolen things with the help of yogurt, whey or regular kefir, leaving one of these products on the stained area for 3-4 hours. After this time, the woolen item must be washed in cool water.

Step 5

You can remove potassium permanganate stains from dishes or floors using regular baking soda. If this method does not bring the desired results, citric, oxalic, acetic acid, and hydrogen peroxide can be used as a stain remover.

Step 6

A very effective treatment for potassium permanganate stains is a mixture of citric acid and hydrogen peroxide.
