The final quality of work is most influenced by precisely those materials that are not visible from the outside. When laying any floor covering (linoleum, laminate, parquet or other), a substrate must be used. In view of this, the conclusion suggests itself: the appearance of the floor depends on the quality of the selected substrate and the correctness of its installation.

Necessary

  • - substrate;
  • - level-weight;
  • - primer;
  • - roller;
  • - adhesive tape;
  • - construction knife;
  • - putty;
  • - putty knife;
  • - water;
  • - brush.

Instructions

Step 1

There are many types of substrates, which is why the installation sequence directly depends on the type of substrate you choose.

Step 2

If you are using a cork backing, first prepare a base on which this backing will be laid with a glueless method. Ideally, this should be a thin screed from a leveling mass, which must be primed before laying the substrate. Leave a small gap when laying the cork backing against a wall. Then lay the backing, and cut off the excess parts with a construction knife. Glue the joints of the individual strips of the backing (cork backing is sold in rolls) with special adhesive tape.

Step 3

If you decide to use Icopal Parkolag underlayment consisting of bitumen, thick paper and cork chips, make sure that the substrate on which it will be installed is dry (maximum allowable humidity 80%). Smooth the surface with a putty, then let it dry. Install the substrate itself sequentially, that is, piece by piece, moreover, lay the cork side down. Leave a small gap near the walls, and use adhesive tape to seal the seams between the individual pieces.

Step 4

If a warm floor is installed in the room, then before laying parquet or laminate on it, lay a substrate with a minimum thermal conductivity, for example, a Tuplex substrate. First, make sure the subfloor is clean and dry and that the floor is no more than three millimeters uneven. Roll the backing over the floor surface, then moisten the overlapping part with water (this edge has an adhesive base, so after wetting it with water, you can glue the next strip of the backing onto this glue).

Step 5

If the floor covering is laid on an old wooden base, then a polyethylene foam backing, for example, "Izokom", will become an irreplaceable substrate for you. Lay joint-to-joint with Izokom, after which glue all seams with special adhesive tape.
