Vinyl wallpapers are different from paper ones. They are made on a non-woven elastic base. This allows them to be glued in new buildings with natural shrinkage of the walls. Vinyl wallpaper will hide minor wall defects due to its density. Wallpapers are somewhat heavier than paper ones, and gluing them has its own tricks.

Necessary

  • -special brush or brush for priming the wall and applying glue to the wallpaper,
  • - a roller for rolling seams,
  • -special spatula for smoothing wallpaper panels,
  • - tape measure, level, ruler,
  • -cotton rag (to wipe off excess glue),
  • -scissors, wallpaper cutter,
  • -brush for applying glue to small areas of wallpaper,
  • -wallpaper,
  • -glue,
  • -primer.

Instructions

Step 1

Before gluing the wallpaper, you need to prepare the room. Remove old wallpaper, sockets, switches, and chandelier from the walls. Cover exposed electrical contacts with electrical tape or masking tape. Dilute wallpaper glue according to the instructions on the box. Prime the walls with deep penetration primer or prepared glue before gluing. If the walls are primed with glue, then it must be diluted 1/4 with water so that the composition is close in consistency to the primer. Using a plumb line (weight on a string), draw a vertical line along which you will align the wallpaper when gluing.

Step 2

Use a tape measure to measure the height of the walls and cut the wallpaper to measure, leaving a 10cm allowance along the bottom length. If your wallpaper is patterned, carefully match the pattern before cutting the next piece.

Step 3

The wallpaper begins to glue after the soil layer has completely dried. Place the wallpaper on top of each other in a pattern of 10 sheets each. Apply glue to the wall underneath the first piece. Glue the first panel, taking into account the vertical mark. Then apply glue under the second panel and glue it.

There is a type of wallpaper, when glued, the glue is applied to the panel itself. How to stick your wallpaper is indicated on the wallpaper label. If you need to apply glue to the wallpaper, then do this. Carefully smear the panel with glue, carefully going through all the corners and edges of the panel. Fold the edges in the middle without ironing the folds and set them aside. The same is repeated with the rest of the panels. Pasting begins with the first sheet coated with glue.

Step 4

After the panel has stuck to the wall, you need to roll it with a rubber roller to drive out excess glue and air locks. And also it will better and smoother stick the sheet to the wall surface. Any excess glue protruding should be wiped off immediately with a cloth, not allowing it to fall on the front side of the wallpaper. Those places where the wallpaper leaves the wall along the edges of the panel are again coated with glue with a brush. In the corners of the room, the wallpaper panel should go from one side to the other by no more than 3-4 cm. The first panel on the other wall is glued from the very corner, overlapping these 3-4 cm.

Step 5

Places for switches and sockets are completely sealed. After drying, with the help of tapping, they are found and cut through. Then the sockets and switches themselves are fixed. From below, the wallpaper is glued to the joint with the floor, the excess is cut off. And after drying, the skirting boards are nailed. The wall behind the battery can not be pasted over, but painted to match the wallpaper with oil paint.
