To prolong the service life and not spoil the taste of the coffee, the coffee machine should be cleaned periodically. After all, even the most purified water will sooner or later leave a crust of salts on the apparatus. And it, in turn, will lead to the destruction of plastic and metal, an increase in energy consumption, a deterioration in the taste of the drink and other negative consequences.

Necessary

  • - instructions for the coffee machine;
  • - means for decalcification;
  • - hot water.

Instructions

Step 1

The method of cleaning a coffee machine, which is called decalcification, depends on its structure. So, drip, filtration and geyser coffee makers and coffee machines with a removable brewing unit should be cleaned with running water and conventional detergents, except abrasives.

Step 2

Washing the appliance after each use will prevent lime scale build-up. But when it is formed, use special means for decalcifying. They come in pill or liquid form.

Step 3

Pour these products into the reservoir and add hot water at about 60 degrees. Allow for the time indicated on the cleaning agent. Brew 2-3 servings of the drink (without the coffee itself) and after 5-10 minutes drain the remaining liquid and rinse the coffee machine with running water.

Step 4

If there is a lot of limescale in the appliance, repeat the process again with an interval of 5-10 minutes. Rinse the entire machine system thoroughly. For automatic coffee machines without an autocleaning function, use a special product.

Step 5

Place it in a tank and fill it with about a liter of hot water. Run 2-3 cups of water through a hot tap. Cook 2-3 servings (no coffee) and stop the machine for 5 minutes. Wait for the cleaning agent to settle throughout the system. Repeat this until you have used up all the water in the tank. Flush the reservoir thoroughly.

Step 6

For an automatic espresso machine with an auto-cleaning function, the washing procedure is the same. Then turn on the automatic descaling system and rinse the operating unit with warm water. If your coffee machine has a self-cleaning system, activate it. In essence, self-cleaning is the idling of hot water through the system before and after making coffee, as well as when the machine is turned on and off. When there is no self-cleaning function, run one shot of water without adding coffee.
