Most gardeners grow tomatoes in greenhouses, since these plants are quite thermophilic and give a greater yield at high temperatures. However, it is greenhouse tomatoes that most often get sick, a fairly common ailment of the culture is wilting of the tops.

If you notice that the tops of tomatoes are withering, then their conditions of detention should be revised. In most cases, this ailment manifests itself with improper care.

Improper watering

Proper watering is very important for the culture, the tops of tomatoes can suffer from both an excess of moisture in the soil and a lack of it. In the first case, wilting of the tops occurs as a result of rotting of the root system, in the second - a lack of nutrients. From this it follows that the normalization of watering is the right solution to eliminate the disease.

If the tomatoes are planted quite close to each other, they should be watered no more than twice a week, trying to shed the soil around the crops as much as possible each time. For irrigation, it is worth using not cold water, it is better to be settled, but the procedure should be performed in the morning until 9-10 hours. An hour after watering, the greenhouse doors must be opened so that excess moisture evaporates (this will save the plants from fungal diseases).

Poor illumination

The tops of tomatoes can also fade in low light, most often the lack of light occurs due to too high humidity in the greenhouse or improper location of the structure (for example, it is located near trees and shrubs, outbuildings). The solution to the problem is simple - it is necessary to ventilate the greenhouse more often, if possible, move it to an open place.

Quite often, tomatoes do not have enough light when they are grown out of season (too short a day). There is only one salvation - to install special lamps in the greenhouse, and cover the ground with reflective foil.

Heat

Although tomatoes are a thermophilic crop, prolonged exposure to high temperatures negatively affects the seedlings. At temperatures above 40 degrees, especially if it lasts for more than a week, the leaves of tomatoes begin to dry, the ovaries fall off, and the tops fade. To prevent this from happening, a thermometer should be installed in the greenhouse and the temperature should be maintained no higher than 35 degrees.
