The flycatcher is a very interesting plant. It has long green leaves that have two collapsing parts. There are denticles along the edges of the leaves. The leaves snap shut as soon as the insect lands on them. Keeping a plant at home is quite troublesome: it often has to be transplanted.

Necessary

Flycatcher, pot, prepared substrate, water, "Ribav-extra", "Epin"

Instructions

Step 1

The flycatcher is considered a marsh plant. Therefore, it requires a substrate consisting of peat, perlite and sand. Ratio: 4: 2: 1. As an alternative substrate, a mixture of sour high-moor peat and perlite is used in the ratio: 2: 1. Before using perlite, soak it in distilled water for a week. Change the water twice during this time. Do not use regular store-bought peat-based soil mix as a substrate. Also, expanded clay should not be added to the soil for the flycatcher. It contains alkaline elements that can destroy the plant.

Step 2

The best time to transplant a Venus Flytrap is in spring or early summer. In the warm season, the plant tolerates the change of soil more easily and adapts to new conditions. Repot the flycatcher every year if your watering is not the best quality. Typically, such water contains up to 50 mg / liter of dissolved salts. If the salt content in the water is less than 5 mg / liter, transplant once every two years.

Step 3

After purchasing the Venus flytrap, it is recommended to immediately transplant it into a suitable substrate. It is highly likely that the plant in the store is in the same pot it has been in since birth. Therefore, the substrate in it, to put it mildly, is no longer of the highest quality. After all, he was repeatedly exposed to watering, loosening and other procedures. If it is not possible to transplant the plant soon after purchase, water it well with distilled water. It will partially wash away the accumulated salts.

Step 4

Venus flytrap roots are a bulb, so replanting the plant is very easy. Gently pick up the plant above the bulb and place it in a pot with prepared substrate. Then top up the soil from the sides. Deepen the flycatcher so that the bulb and whitish parts are in the soil. When placing the plant in another pot, be careful not to touch the traps to avoid accidentally damaging them.

Step 5

Spray the plant with Epin the day before transplanting. Ratio: 2-3 drops per 200 ml of water. Epin regulates and activates the protective properties of the plant. This makes it easier for the flycatcher to cope with the stress after the transplant. And during the transplant, spill the substrate with Ribav-extra. It stimulates the development of the root system, including bulbs. Gardeners also use Ribav-extra to improve plant survival.
