Instructions

Step 1

Carrots love the sun, so you need to plant them in a well-lit place. It is desirable that this area has good lighting throughout the day. Do not plant carrots where parsley, carrots and celery are planted. Cabbage, cucumbers, tomatoes, and potatoes are excellent precursors. In areas where frost is not uncommon, it is better to sow early varieties of carrots. They are the most resistant to frost. You can sow this type of carrot immediately after warming up the soil. I must say that such carrots are not suitable for storage. To do this, you need to sow long-term ripening varieties. Sowing is carried out after the heat is stable.

Step 2

Before sowing, carrot seeds are checked for defects. To do this, it is enough to fill the seeds with water. Live seeds will remain at the bottom of the container, and all the waste will float. The seeds must be germinated before sowing. To do this, they are wrapped in a damp cloth, placed in a warm place and kept there for several days. Usually three days are enough. In the beds, immediately before sowing, grooves are made, which are then watered. The grooves should not be too shallow, but they should not be made very deep. The required depth is 3 centimeters. There should be at least fifteen centimeters between adjacent furrows.

Step 3

Carrots require care. The beds must be weeded constantly. Also, do not forget to loosen them. If this is not done, the roots will take on a crooked shape. After the appearance of the first leaves, the beds are thinned out. You should not regret water for carrots. If you water it rarely, the roots will grow sluggish, and bitterness will appear in the taste. Fertilizers must be applied twice per season. The first application should be in a month after the shoots have appeared, and the second in another two months. Fertilizing carrots is better with liquid fertilizers. To do this, dilute two glasses of ash in a bucket of water. Nitrophoska will serve as a fertilizer. One tablespoon will be enough for a bucket of water.
