In winter, when the color palette of the surrounding world becomes monotonous, indoor plants are especially pleasing with their luscious greenery. But it is at this time of the year that they need maximum care, attention and nutrition.
Short daylight hours, dry air and sudden changes in day and night temperatures - all this causes great harm to indoor plants, and they begin to lose their rich color, wither and ache. But we can help them, and it will not be difficult, it is enough to follow certain rules for caring for indoor plants.
Spraying
In winter, air humidity in any room is very low. The soil in flower pots dries out almost immediately after watering. By striving to water the plant as often as possible, we are making a big mistake. It is better to reduce watering, but you need to "bathe" your favorites as often as possible. Spray the leaves liberally every 2-3 days and your pet will respond with vibrant greens. But not all of the plants love bathing. For example, violets should not be sprayed under any circumstances - the leaves will instantly rot, and the flower may die.
Rest
Cacti need peace in winter. Watering can be replaced by spraying, and top dressing can be eliminated altogether. Many plants shed their leaves in winter and go into hibernation. The pots can be removed to a dark place before the first shoots appear.
Lighting and feeding
Plants blooming in winter need to provide maximum access to light from the windows. The sun's rays during this period of the year are not intense and you should not be afraid of burns on the leaves. Flowering and high-quality complementary foods are necessary, and it is advisable to choose fertilizers in granules. Callas, eucharises and cyclamens are fed every 10-14 days.
Pests
In winter, pests in the soil and on plant leaves reproduce no less actively than in the warm season, and some of their species multiply even faster than in summer. Regularly inspect the leaves and stems of your pets, remove any that have traces of pest infestation or with traces of decay, wilting and yellowness.
Hygiene
Do not allow dust accumulation on plant leaves. This rule must be observed at any time of the year. If the size of the leaves allows, then wipe them with a damp cloth as often as possible. Small-leaved specimens can be bathed from a spray bottle or in a shower, covering the soil with plastic wrap.
These simple rules for caring for indoor plants will help you fully enjoy their beauty in the winter.
