There are many different varieties of radish, which vary in shape, color and ripening time. Root weight up to 80 g.

At the first opportunity to cultivate the soil, you can sow radishes and get the first roots 25-50 days after sowing.

Radish is very picky about soil fertility and moisture. Organic fertilizers are applied to the sowing site and dug up, then loosened well. Mineral fertilizers are applied before planting to improve the quality of the crop and quick ripening.

It is better to buy seeds in specialized stores. Before use, the seeds must be sorted out and the largest and not spoiled ones should be set aside. Soak the selected seeds in a damp cloth and keep at room temperature for 2-3 days, remembering to moisten. To prevent the development of diseases, the seeds are treated with a solution of potassium permanganate.

For sowing, make beds and grooves. The distance between the furrows is not less than 10 cm. Seeds are placed on the compacted and watered bottom of the furrow to a depth of 1-1.5 cm. The interval between the seeds is 4-6 cm. From above they are covered with a mixture of soil with humus, compacted and watered again. Planting can be repeated after 10 days so that fresh radishes are always on the table. The root crop is quite resistant to frost up to +3 degrees, but after sowing, it is recommended to cover it with foil before the first shoots.

The secret to growing a juicy, crack-free radish is regular watering, loosening and weeding. The first watering should be done a couple of days after planting. After the appearance of the first leaves, it should be watered 2 times a day, in the morning and in the evening. Watering should be done carefully so as not to damage the leaves and prevent excess moisture in the soil, which leads to cracks and radish stems.

Try to avoid crusting on the ground, as this tends to crack the root crop. Regular loosening of the soil is necessary, especially during the period of the formation of the vegetable.

Another main point in caring for radishes is weeding. It is necessary to thin out the seedlings at an interval of at least 4 cm, otherwise the roots will grow in length.

Radishes should not be planted between mid-July and mid-August. Due to the long daylight hours and hot weather, the root crop becomes bitter and begins to bloom.

But the variety of the new radish "White Nights" was bred specifically for planting in such conditions. The root crop is white, round in shape and up to 5 cm in diameter, resistant to clumping. The ideal time to sow this radish is mid-August, in the beds after potatoes or onions. This variety can be stored for winter.
