A joiner's workbench is essential in the manufacture of high-quality joinery. The massiveness and rigidity of such a workbench ensure high-precision production of parts and excellent quality in their assembly and finishing. A properly assembled workbench will serve you and your descendants for many years, and joinery will be a pleasure.

Carpentry workbench design

The workbench design includes a table top, underframe, clamping devices and additional elements. To make a homemade workbench, assemble a tabletop from 20 planks (50 x 100 x 2000 millimeters), which are placed on the edge. In the 5th and 16th boards, drill grooves (25x25 millimeters with a step of 250 millimeters), in which stoppers will be installed with a ledge that will not allow them to fall into the workbench. Assemble the boards using any wood glue and metal screeds. The wooden surfaces to be glued must be mutually parallel and planed.

The design of the locksmith's workbench is not critical to dimensional changes, but the material used should have a moisture content of no more than 20%.

After the glue dries, carefully smooth the countertop in all directions so that the surface acquires a good flatness. For the manufacture of legs, take a planed bar (size 100x100x 800 millimeters). Then make the frame of the underframe by attaching the upper and lower frames to the legs, which are also made of boards (section 50 x 100 millimeters). Connect them into a thorn and cut into the legs to a depth of 25 millimeters. Connect the frames with the legs with bolts or wood grouses, and then sheathe the bottom frame from above with a plywood sheet (thickness from 10 millimeters).

Putting together a joiner's workbench

To give the structure additional rigidity and completeness of the appearance, make the back and side walls from chipboard or plywood (10-12 millimeters thick). Place a cabinet with a door on the left side of the workbench, and three drawers on the right. Attach the tabletop to the upper frame of the frame with bolts.

The bolt heads must be completely recessed into the sockets so that they do not protrude above the plane of the table top.

Be sure to make a miter box that is designed to cut wood at a certain angle. Make it from plywood strips (thickness 20 millimeters, width - 100 millimeters) and fix it on the workbench with wooden stoppers. At the end, the miter box must be pro-olized and coated with oil varnish.

To perform locksmith work on a workbench, install a removable massive steel corner (section 80x80 millimeters) on the edge of the tabletop. Attach it to its rib with bolts or wood grouses, screw them into threaded bushings. When performing locksmith operations, remember to protect the workbench surface with a sheet of metal.

In the same way, you can make a children's folding workbench, taking as a basis the slightly smaller dimensions of the structure.
