Replacing the bathtub is not an easy operation. It is necessary to first dismantle the old bathtub, then take it out, which is not easy, because an ordinary cast-iron bathtub weighs up to 140 kg, one cannot do it alone. Then you need to add a new one, connect and install so that it does not stagger. You don't have to dismantle the old bathtub, but simply update its coating or insert an acrylic insert, but if you want to change the interior of the bathtub, then only the first option is possible.

Instructions

Step 1

Before dismantling the old bathtub, it is necessary to disconnect it from the sewage system; for this, disassemble the drain, siphon and disconnect the hose or pipe from the overflow hole. All processes can be performed with a spanner wrench. Then remove the sealant and you can remove the tub from the room.

Step 2

Prepare the site by removing any bumps and debris. Unpack the new bathtub, unscrew the legs and bring in. Already in the bathroom, place the bathtub on its side and screw on the legs. Place it in its working position carefully so as not to damage the tile.

Step 3

Height adjusters are now being made on new bathtubs, including cast iron ones. Use them to level the bathtub. This will provide an equal load on the legs, the sides will be even, and the water in the bathroom will not accumulate.

Step 4

Next, you need to attach the bath to the sewer hole. If it is cast iron, then a rubber sleeve is required to connect to the siphon. Further, with a flexible pipe or a plastic piece with a diameter of 40 mm, if the pipe is 50 mm, then an adapter 40 to 50 is required. Be sure to check the tightness of the connection and the sealing.

Step 5

To ground the bath, you need to extend the ground wire (yellow) from the shield to it. To connect the jacuzzi, use an RCD connection. Place the wires where they will never be flooded with water.

Step 6

Be sure to seal the joints of the tub to the wall. If the distance is large, then it must first be laid with a brick, and it is better to fill it with polyurethane foam. Then directly sealing. For this, you can use a silicone sealant. Use it according to the instructions and do not forget to remove any drops of sealant that fall on the tiles and bathtub, while they are not frozen. Otherwise, you will not be able to delete it later.
