Many owners of their own suburban areas prefer to carry out all the landscaping work on their own. It is not difficult to maintain order on the territory, and for the arrangement of the site it is not necessary to use only expensive building materials.

A good owner does not lose anything, so even the used materials are rarely thrown away by the owners of their own plots. Obsolete materials and aged things often find new applications - for example, as elements of landscape design.

When disassembling dilapidated buildings with regard to the material of the walls, there are usually no questions regarding further use. Most of the outbuildings are built of wood, which goes well for firewood. But not everyone knows what to do with the used slate from the roof.

What to do with old slate removed from the roof

If the removed slate sheets are in a relatively normal state, that is, they do not break under the hands, they can be used again in the same capacity, for temporary or seasonal buildings. For example, arrange a shed over the poultry yard, where chickens or other poultry are kept in the warm season, and cover it with used slate. You can cover the wood stacked in woodpiles and intended for winter with fragments of slate to protect it from the rain.

Slate is also used to cover gaps in other dilapidated walls, if the building itself is not supposed to be changed yet. To do this, the sheet is simply leaned against the wall, in which there are holes or planks torn out. If, for example, the roof of a bathhouse is also made of slate with a suitable wave and there are a lot of holes in it, but it is not yet possible to block it completely, pieces of old slate can help out great. All holes found on the roof must be closed with pieces of slate so that the waves of material enter one another. It is just impossible to close the holes in the dilapidated roof with whole sheets - the old coating may not withstand their weight.

Is it possible to use broken slate

If the slate removed from the roof is so old that it breaks into pieces without much effort right in the hands, and it can be used. It is rare to find a suburban area where a vegetable garden would not have been planted. From pieces of slate, you can make a wonderful frame for the ridges. Pieces are buried in the ground along the entire perimeter of the garden in such a way that their upper edges would be at the same level, and they themselves would form a continuous strip around. If desired, the slate can be painted in any desired color.

Even very small pieces of slate, which, it would seem, are no good, can be used to fill the paths in the garden, for the base under the floor in a barn or garage laid out of boards. Slate chips are used to fill ditches or holes in the area.
