It will take a lot of time and money to bring the apartment in perfect condition - repairs can take years. But there are times when cosmetic repairs need to be done very quickly and very inexpensively, for example, if you rented a house or just bought an apartment after exhausting all financial reserves.

Step 1

The cost of repairs consists of two components: the cost of materials and the cost of work. Moreover, the services of professional repairmen can cost much more than all materials. Therefore, the first commandment of cheap repairs is to do everything you can with your own hands. Actually, specialists need to be entrusted with only two areas of work: plumbing (if pipes require replacement) and electrical wiring, for the rest, professionals are not required. And the second is to choose inexpensive materials and do without what you can do without.

Step 2

The simplest thing is to make inexpensive repairs in the living rooms and corridor. To tidy up the ceiling, you will need ceiling paint (matte is better - this allows you to hide surface irregularities) and a special paint roller - foam or fleecy. Of course, you can do without a roller by painting the ceilings with a brush, but, firstly, it is much more tedious, and secondly, stripes may remain on the painted surface - and you will have to repaint a second time. The roller allows you to apply only one layer of paint.

Step 3

Stick paper wallpapers on the wall - they are not as durable as vinyl, but they are very cheap. By the way, it is not necessary to buy special glue for paper wallpaper - you can cook a paste from flour or starch. You can not change the wiped linoleum on the floor, but simply paint it with oil or acrylic paint for the floor - the color will easily last 3-4 years.

Step 4

The choice of materials for the repair of the bathroom and the kitchen must be approached more carefully - after all, these are premises with high humidity. Therefore, for the ceilings in these rooms, it is better to purchase a special moisture-resistant paint marked "for baths and kitchens" or "for wet rooms" - especially since it is not much more expensive.

Step 5

Bathroom walls do not have to be tiled. If the walls are in good condition, you can paint them with acrylic paint or stick on moisture-resistant washable vinyl wallpaper (marked "three drops"). You can also use fiberglass “paintable” wallpaper for bathrooms. They are good because they are very undemanding to the quality of the surface - they can be glued even on an uneven, crumbling wall and this allows you to reduce not only the cost of repairs, but also labor costs. A somewhat more expensive, but at the same time, very economical option is plastic wall panels. They look great and are very easy to clean.

Step 6

You can also use fiberglass wallpaper or washable vinyl wallpaper to decorate your kitchen up to the ceiling or mid-height. If the kitchen apron is not tiled, you can use a plastic panel imitating tile, or stick oilcloth or self-adhesive film on the wall above the working areas.
