Instructions

Step 1

Carrots are a fairly resistant vegetable in relation to cold weather, so they do not require greenhouse cultivation. You can sow it directly into open ground. Depending on the weather, it can be sown on May 1 or 9 in central Russia.

Step 2

Make not very deep grooves in the beds. Let them be about 2-3 centimeters deep. Sow carrot seeds there. In order for the carrots to grow large, the seeds should be thrown as little as possible apart from each other. Otherwise, when the carrots rise and grow up, a dense planting will not allow the root crops themselves to grow.

Step 3

Line the seed furrows with soil immediately after sowing, until the wind has blown the seeds up and the birds have dragged them around. Pour the watering can over the garden bed with warm water under the sun. Do not water the freshly sown carrots with ice water. This will make it difficult for seedlings. Also, do not water the garden with a bucket. A strong jet of water can wash out the soil and wash away seeds.

Step 4

After the first shoots appear, the carrots must be weeded and sown, even if they were rarely sown. Otherwise, when it grows up, the root crops will not have enough space to grow. Accordingly, the carrots will be small.

Step 5

Water the carrots throughout the entire period with water at about room temperature. Water heated in the sun in a barrel is ideal.

Step 6

Keep in mind that carrots are very fond of not only people, but also rodents: mice and moles. Therefore, keep track of their number in your garden, otherwise, instead of harvesting a useful root crop, you can get one tops.

Step 7

Thus, it does not take a lot of effort to grow a good harvest of carrots. It is enough to tidy it up in time and water it enough, but you should not flood the garden bed. After all, carrots are not rice.
