The seedlings must be healthy and of good quality in order to obtain a rich harvest. In order for the seedlings to meet all these requirements, you need to follow several rules.

Soil preparation for seedlings

The soil is harvested in the fall, you need it for each plant about 0.5 liters. In addition to garden land, you can stock up on peat, forest land, old anthills, rotted tree stumps. The earth must be rendered harmless by destroying the pests present there; this can be done by calcining it in an oven, freezing it, or spilling it with a strong solution of potassium permanganate.

If the seeds are of good quality, they do not need special pre-sowing preparation. Usually, the seeds are soaked for 6-24 hours before planting with the addition of various preparations. If there are no drugs available, they are soaked for 6 hours in warm water. For better development and disinfection, the preparations "Epin", "Zircon", "Energen" are used, diluting them in water according to the instructions. When soaking the seeds, you need to remember that the liquid should cover them by two-thirds or three-quarters, but no more, since without access to oxygen, the seeds will die.

Often, the method of sowing seeds is used in 2-4 pieces in one container - such seeds grow faster, and the weakest sprouts should be weeded out. Some seeds require picking after the first true leaf appears, some - hilling or pinching, these factors should be recognized before planting. There are crops that react very negatively to transplanting and even transshipment; it is better to plant such seeds directly into the ground, without the seedling stage.

Planting and leaving

The time of planting seeds for seedlings is different for each region, and ranges from early February to late April, it depends on many factors. The planned time of planting in open ground affects the time of planting, since underdeveloped seedlings, being planted, will most likely hurt for a long time, and overdeveloped and elongated ones will most likely have root problems. The quality of the seeds and adequate lighting in the room are also important. Old seeds take longer to germinate, this must be taken into account when calculating the timing. In a dimly lit room, seedlings will develop more slowly than on well-lit windowsills.

To calculate the optimal planting dates for a particular house or apartment for different crops, seeds begin to be planted in pairs or triplets with a weekly time interval throughout February and March. In order not to confuse later, the seedlings of which dates came out the most optimal, the disembarkation time is written on the containers with an indelible marker. The same time, plus or minus 7 days, is taken the next year for disembarkation.
