Instructions

Step 1

With proper construction of a "wood" floor (ie with proper ventilation and lack of moisture), the average service life is 45-50 years, although practice shows that wood floors can last up to 100 years.

Step 2

To lay a good wood floor, you need good material. The most popular budget solutions are spruce and pine boards. It should be noted that boards from if, due to their knotty nature, eventually lose their original shape, and it is not recommended to use them for the floor in a residential building.

Step 3

A pine board is considered the best option, but it also has its own defect. It is afraid of moisture and is not recommended for use in unheated or damp rooms.

Step 4

Larch closes the budget three, although it is a little more expensive than pine and spruce, it is suitable for any type of premises, is not afraid of moisture, and when it comes into contact with water, it only becomes stronger. The more expensive flooring is made of deciduous trees and belongs to the luxury class - these are oak, beech, maple, ash.

Step 5

The floorboard comes in three sizes: 35mm thin, 45mm medium and 55mm thick. The thickness of the floorboard is calculated taking into account the size of the room, the distance between the joists and the load that the flooring will experience. If the board is placed on a concrete floor as an additional covering, then a board with a thickness of 30-40 mm can be used. When installing the floor without additional overlap, it is best to use boards from 40 to 55 mm, since these boards have an increased margin of safety.

Step 6

When choosing a board, look only for well-dried material, otherwise you risk getting a deformation of the coating and a significant number of cracks in the wood that has dried out over time.

Step 7

You also need to know that the boards are divided into classes: extra, class A, class B, class C. When determining these classes, such indicators are used as knotty, the presence of cracks, insect damage, the presence of gum. In view of the fact that the floor belongs to "durable" structures, it is recommended to use boards of extra class or class A for its manufacture. Therefore, these boards belong to a higher price range.
