In winter, the water in the pipes freezes quite often. And there are several reasons for this: this is the insufficient depth of the pipes, and ineffective insulation, and a low water consumption, and a very low air temperature. Those pipes that you have easy access to, defrost easily with a hair dryer. But what about pipes that are laid underground?

Step 1

If our water is frozen at the inlet, it's still half the trouble. In this case, you can heat the wall. And if the ice "plug" is further away, then there is already a serious problem. In order not to wait for spring, when the pipes can thaw themselves, use one of our tips.

Defrosting metal pipes is not difficult. We need a welding machine that needs to be connected to both ends of the pipe. In this way, the problem is solved in a couple of hours. With plastic pipes, the situation is different. They do not conduct current, so a welding machine will not be able to solve the problem.

Step 3

For the first method, we need a hardened steel wire with a diameter of 2-4 mm, a construction hydraulic level, and an enema. We align the wire and the level tube, connect them together with electrical tape. We connect the other end of the level to an enema. We push the wire with the tube into the pipe to the very place where the pipe freezes. Pour the prepared hot water into the pipe. And so that we are not flooded with cold water, we will substitute a bucket under the pipe, because hot water displaces cold water in the same quantities. As the ice melts, we move the tube further. Slow method, but effective.

Step 4

And here is the second method, quite original. We take a copper two-core wire, a regular plug, for an outlet. If the pipe length is more than 30 meters, it is recommended to buy a pump or compressor for cold water suction.

Step 5

We remove the top layer of insulation from the wire, expose one core, and bend the other along the wire in the opposite direction. We make a bare vein 3-4 turns, and bite off the excess. Next, we retreat 2-3 mm from the turns and twist the second core with turns, connect the wire to the plug and our unit is ready. It will provide us with heating water from the wire when we plug the plug into the outlet. At the same time, our plastic pipes will not melt, and only ice and water will be heated.

Step 6

You can try the device in a bowl of water. Bubbles and hum should come from the ends of the appliance. Do not put your hands in the water, otherwise it will "burn". Now we place the wire in the pipe and push it all the way. Now we turn on the device to the network and press a little so that the wire rests directly on the ice. Having melted 1-1.5 meters of ice in this way, we pump out excess water with a compressor or pump. Otherwise, the pipe may freeze again while we push the wire further. In addition, the speed of our work will noticeably increase if the device does not need to heat up liters of water in the pipe in addition to ice.
