A room divider is a great way to separate areas. For example, it is known that it is better not to work in the bedroom. However, rarely does anyone have the opportunity to allocate a separate office for work. So it turns out that while one member of the family is working, the other cannot rest. A partition will help you avoid such inconveniences. Depending on the installation method, material and place where the partition is installed, it can be stationary, mobile, brick, wood, plasterboard, glass with aluminum, metal, PVC frame. With all its diversity, all partitions must be durable, resistant to wear and tear and, for the most part, have light and sound insulating properties.

Instructions

Step 1

Before installing the partition, it is necessary to determine whether it will be transformable or capital. That is, whether it will be possible to move this partition if necessary, or will it always stand in its place. The easiest way is to make an ordinary screen. It consists of several wooden frames, covered with fabric, or with inserted glass. These frames are fastened together with hinged hinges. The advantage of the transformable partition is that it is easy to move it, if necessary, to any room in the apartment or take it with you when you move. The screen is quite simple to assemble and put into the closet. It will not take up much space. The transformable partitions also include partitions in the form of wardrobes, compartment partitions, which can also play the role of a door in parallel.

Step 2

Capital or stationary partitions always stand where they were placed. They must be stable, especially strong, since they play the role of a wall. The strongest and most durable partition is made of brickwork. It has excellent sound insulating properties. Such a partition is placed in order to completely isolate the space. A brick wall can only be installed on a concrete floor, in no case should it be placed on logs and, especially, on the upper floor. It is better to choose a brick that is hollow, porous (white silicate). But where there are increased requirements for moisture resistance, for example, in a kitchen, bathroom or toilet, it is necessary to use only medium-fired red brick. It is better to fasten the very first rows of masonry with cement mortar for the strength of the masonry; in row 5, you can use a cement-sand mortar. Each row is fastened with metal reinforcement to adjacent walls to increase the stability of the partition. They put no more than 10 rows per day - the partition needs to dry out. When all the rows are laid and the masonry is dry, the partition is wiped with plaster on both sides, then putty, after which it can be covered with finishing materials.

Step 3

Plasterboard partitions are much faster to build and less dirt is diluted. If you need a solid partition on which you can hang a heavy load, then the frame for the partition is best made of a metal profile. First, 2 lines are drawn on the floor, which will indicate the boundaries of the partition on both sides. Then vertical racks are erected, a horizontal profile is attached to them so that a plasterboard sheet can fit into each cell that appears. First, one side of the partition is sheathed with sheets, then, if necessary, to increase the sound insulation, mineral plates are put in between its two sides, which will also perform a heat-insulating function. And on top, this layer cake is closed with a second layer of drywall. Drywall does not need large finishing work. It is enough to putty the caps of the screws and the joints between the sheets and you can apply the topcoat - wallpaper, decorative plaster, and so on.
