Instructions

Step 1

Laminate can be laid on any floor except carpet. A concrete, plank, parquet base is quite acceptable for a successful installation of laminate flooring. The only strict requirement is that the floor surface must be flat. Only small differences (no more than 2-3 mm) are allowed on the surface of 1, 5-2 m.

Step 2

After purchasing the required amount of laminate, it must be kept in the room where it will be laid for at least two days. This is necessary in order for the material to become accustomed to the temperature and humidity of the room. During this time, you can prepare the floor surface for laying a new coating.

Step 3

If you plan to lay laminate flooring on a wooden floor, special attention should be paid to examining its condition. If the boards are old and bent under the weight, creak or diverge, all these places will have to be repaired first. The dried-up floorboards are interrupted and rallied again, the oldest boards are replaced with new ones if necessary.

Step 4

After fixing all the floorboards, the floor is carefully leveled. Differences in height can be detected using a plumb line. If somewhere they exceed 2 mm. the floor must be leveled with a grinder. If the difference is significant, you can put sheets of plywood. In this case, it must be firmly nailed to the floor.

Step 5

The last stage of surface preparation is the installation of waterproofing. Usually it is made from a dense plastic film, laid in overlapping layers and glued with adhesive tape around the entire perimeter of the room. It is advisable to make a small overlap of the film on the walls, which is also fixed with tape.

Step 6

The laminate is placed on the prepared surface, carefully fastening the panels together using the locks on them. It is better to lay the laminate plates perpendicular to the walls with windows so that the daylight falls parallel to the joint seams and makes them less visible. After completely covering the entire floor area with laminate panels and securing them, the skirting boards are nailed at the junction of the floor and walls. This completes the installation of the flooring.
