But some manufacturers, paying great attention to design and design perfection, forget to give recommendations for the installation of the product and its connection to the electrical network.

How to connect a chandelier

It is necessary

  • - chandelier
  • - tester screwdriver
  • - insulating tape, cambric or pads
  • - stepladder

Instructions

Step 1

You should have three wires coming out of the ceiling plate - zero and two phases (in new houses 4 wires come out - grounding has been added). This circuit design is needed so that you can adjust the light intensity by lighting all the lamps or only some of them. Wires of different colors should also come out of the chandelier.

Step 2

In the passport for your model, the wires must be indicated. If you do not have instructions, you will have to define them yourself. To do this, before you fix the chandelier to the ceiling, let's do a little test. Plug any two wires coming out of your lighting fixture into an outlet. You should have one part of the lamps on. Now swap one of the connected wires with the one you did not use. The other part of the lamps should light up. If the lamps do not light, then you have not connected zero, repeat the manipulations with the wires until you establish their correspondence. Mark the wires. During this procedure, do not touch the third wire, it is even better to temporarily insulate it.

Step 3

Next, in a similar way, find the neutral wire on the ceiling, the other two will be phases. For these purposes, use a tester screwdriver. When touching "zero", the light inside the screwdriver should not light up. Also mark the wires on the ceiling.

Step 4

Now, be sure to de-energize the room by turning off the switch that is located on the staircase, or turning off the plugs on the meter in the apartment. Make sure there is no power. Hang the chandelier from the hook in the ceiling.

Step 5

Connect zero to zero and phases to phases. Do not attach the decorative cover to hide the wiring yet. Connect the electricity and check that your chandelier is connected to the mains correctly. If you are satisfied with the result, replace the cover.
