Not everyone at home has such a useful device as a juicer. Meanwhile, almost everyone wants to drink fresh homemade fruit juice, especially in summer, when many housewives are faced with the question: what to do with harvested apples, pears or apricots? You can shake your wallet and still buy an expensive device for making homemade juice. Or you can do it yourself. A do-it-yourself juice cooker is made in literally ten minutes and can be assembled, literally, from scrap materials. Any housewife can do this: this process does not require any specific skills.

It is necessary

  • Deep and wide saucepan (the larger the better);
  • a colander, sieve or stand for heating food for steam;
  • a container smaller in width than the pan;
  • gauze or thin cloth;
  • deep plate or bowl.

Instructions

Step 1

Before making your own juicer, take a look at your kitchen utensils and think about which of them you might find useful. Almost any object can be used as parts, there are no hard and fast rules here.

Step 2

Pour some water into a saucepan (2-3 cm depth is enough - the main thing is that enough steam is formed during boiling).

Step 3

Any juicer, regardless of complexity, consists of only three parts: a pallet for raw materials; a converter, which is a container with boiling water, from which steam rises through a special pipe to the fruit; and a container for collecting ready-made juice. In store juicers, a discharge tube goes out from it, through which the juice immediately flows into a substituted jar. It will be difficult to make such a construction at home. Therefore, it is better to do with a simpler option, in which, after every 2-3 tabs, you need to take out the container with the finished product and, after emptying it into a previously prepared container, set it back.

Step 4

Take a deep plate, turn it over and place it in a saucepan so that the bottom protrudes slightly from the water. Or, if the appropriate cookware is not available, use any clean, heat-resistant base. For example, I took a steaming rack.

Step 5

Place a container on the formed "pedestal" into which the juice will drain during cooking. Its diameter should be smaller than the size of the pan. The principle is simple: the rising steam will pour over the fruits lying over the container, and the juice they release will begin to drain into the substituted container. If this container is too wide, there will be too little space for the steam and there will be little useful yield from the fruit. And a bowl that is too narrow, on the contrary, will not be able to collect all the juice, which will be useless to flow into the water.

Step 6

Next, you need to install a "grid" on which, in fact, the fruits will lie. There are many options for making this mesh. I usually use a regular colander placed directly on the juice container. Although it could just as well be a large metal sieve, a perforated steamer rack, or even plain cheesecloth tied over a saucepan. Any object through which the juice can flow down unhindered is perfect for making a homemade juicer.

Step 7

Now find a suitable cover. It should fit snugly against the pan so that all the steam generated remains inside. A vacuum lid is perfect for this purpose. The main thing is to make sure that there is a gap of at least a few centimeters between it and the fruit.

Step 8

Homemade juicer is ready. Now it remains only to lay the fruits, sprinkle them with a small amount of sugar and light a fire under the pan. In just half an hour you will be the owner of several hundred milliliters of delicious (and most importantly, absolutely natural!) Juice.
