You can improve your personal plot in different ways. So some owners break several flower beds, decorating them with beautiful stones, others build a summer kitchen or terrace. Or you can create an artificial lake, which against the background of the surrounding landscape will look like a real natural reservoir.

Well, isn't it a wonderful picture?

Instructions

Step 1

The first step is to choose the location of the future lake. To protect it from possible gusts of cold wind, make sure that the shrubs and trees growing on the site are north of the reservoir. At the same time, they will not interfere with the penetration of sunlight onto the surface of the lake.

Step 2

The effect of a natural reservoir can be achieved by making the lake inhomogeneous in shape, and making its shores sinuous. If the area of the personal plot permits, you can arrange a small island by planting beautiful flowers or other plants on it.

Step 3

The surface of the lake itself can be decorated with lilies or other ornamental plants growing in the water. It is easy to create an imitation of lake thickets by planting calamus, fern or iris around the perimeter of the reservoir.

Step 4

But simply digging a hole and filling it with water is not enough. It is necessary to make sure that the soil is not eroded by water. To do this, first remove the entire fertile layer and remove all plant residues. The pit can be shaped arbitrarily, but the walls must necessarily be inclined.

Step 5

The walls and bottom of the future lake are faced with waterproof materials. This can be a thoroughly mixed clay, for example. Apply the solution in one layer to the entire surface of the pit and wait a little until the whole thing dries out. Now cover the walls and bottom with water-proof foil. It is better to take dense polyethylene, which also does not transmit light. So the seeds that could remain in the ground will definitely not give new shoots.

Step 6

An artificial lake will be much more reliable if you put another layer of clay on the film. At the same time, the edges of the film are neatly trimmed with an allowance of about 10 cm on all sides. The edge is laid with stones or covered with earth.

Step 7

You can use the finished bottom of an artificial lake with colored rubble, sea pebbles or ordinary stones.
