Water is an integral part of our life. With its help we can maintain hygiene, prepare food and wash things. It is supplied to every house with a water supply. Plumbing is installed in the apartments, which is usually used more than once a day. Therefore, it very often fails. Calling a plumber is not always possible, so it's best to fix the plumbing yourself.

It is necessary

  • plumbing repair tools,
  • new gaskets and hoses,
  • gloves.

Instructions

Step 1

First of all, it is necessary to block the access of water to the faulty tap so that a flood does not accidentally occur when troubleshooting. Also prepare rags and a bucket so that in the event of a water leak, you can quickly localize the flood. You need to work with gloves, since the dirt that accumulates in the pipes is not very easy to wash off. It is necessary to start repairs directly from identifying the malfunction. If the water does not drain well, then use a rubber plunger. Try to clear the blockage with it. However, this is not always possible. To avoid such congestion, use from time to time cleaning agents such as "Mole". They loosen the accumulation of debris and dirt and help keep the pipes clean and extend their life. You can also clean the pipes with a steel wire rope. It is necessary to remove all the siphons and begin to gently push the cable until it stops. You need to turn it periodically.

Step 2

In order not to suffer every time with cleaning pipes, you can thread a nylon cord. To do this, remove all siphons. Pass the nylon cord so that it comes out of the other end of the pipe. The presence of such a cord will not interfere in any way, since it is very thin. Please note that you only need to use a nylon cord! It is nylon that is least susceptible to external influences. If you use a regular thread instead, it will rot very quickly from the constant presence of water and become an indirect cause of blockage. The pipes need to be cleaned periodically. To do this, remove all siphons. Pull the cord out a little from one end. Slip a button and iron staples over it. The button should not be very small, but also not very large. The staples must be attached so that they form a kind of iron brush, which will clean the inside of the pipe.

Step 3

Very often you have to deal with the fact that the toilet cistern stops working. The reason is either a clogged hose or a leaky float. In the first case, you need to clean the hoses, if necessary, replace them with new ones. The second requires replacement of the float. If it is not possible to buy a new float, then you need to dismantle the old one and dry it thoroughly. After that, make a bag for it from dense polyethylene. Place the float in this bag and seal it carefully. Make sure no water gets into the bag, otherwise the float will not perform its function.

Step 4

If the plumbing is in operation for a long time, then water begins to ooze through the joints of the plumbing parts. The reason lies in damaged gaskets. It is necessary to disassemble the parts and replace the gaskets with new ones. If suddenly you do not have the opportunity to purchase new gaskets, then you can get the old ones and clean them. After that, you need to install them back, and put a few thread rings on top. Now put the parts back together and check the functionality of the plumbing.
