Gardeners know how important it is to prepare trees for winter, because a successful wintering is the most important condition for a good yield of an orchard. Proper preparation of the garden increases its resistance to frost and bad weather.

Instructions

Step 1

Be sure to dig (half a bayonet or a full bayonet) and loosen the soil in the near-trunk area. Such treatment will retain moisture and get rid of pests in the upper layer of the earth. Dig with a pitchfork to avoid damaging the roots. Along with digging, add ash to the soil - this is both fertilizer and protection from pests.

Step 2

In August, feed trees and shrubs with phosphorus and potassium fertilizers. These two elements increase the resistance of all parts of plants to the winter cold. Superphosphate, potassium sulfate and double superphosphate are suitable - add them to the trunk circle in accordance with the recommendations on the package.

Step 3

After harvesting, do not leave dry and diseased leaves and fruits on the branches - this is a source of disease. In September, remove dry bark from tree trunks, especially trees older than 8 years old need it. Clean the bark with wire brushes or a tool to remove grass between the plates. Remove only the outer layers of black or brown.

Step 4

With the beginning of leaf fall, prune - remove diseased, dry and broken branches. Make the cuts even, if a wound has formed, cover it with garden varnish or garden glue.

Step 5

At the end of October - in November, when there are practically no green leaves, remove lichens from tree trunks. To get rid of them, spray the trunks with iron sulfate. After the lichen is dry and brown, remove it by hand with a brush.

Step 6

Prepare young trees (apple and pear) for winter by hardening the root system. In September, collect the soil around the trees, exposing the tops of the large roots. Store this soil dry in a dry, frost-free room. When the first cold weather comes, return the earth to its place. In this way, the roots will get used to low temperatures and better survive the dangerous period before snow falls.

Step 7

If the fall is not rainy, water the garden before the leaves fall. One tree at the age of 4-6 years should have at least 40-50 liters of water. It is necessary to water not only the near-trunk zone, but also the entire area under the crown of the tree.

Step 8

In dry weather, after leaf fall, spray the trees with a high-concentration disinfecting solution to protect them from fungus and other common diseases. Dissolve the copper sulfate in hot water (300 g sulfate per 10 liters of water) and spray the trees - branches and trunk.

Step 9

Protect trees from sunburn after spraying. Apply garden whitewash or special latex paint to the trunk area from the ground to the first branches. Apply whitewashing on dry bark in dry weather.
