There are two main types of soiling on your iron:

- scale formation inside the appliance due to the use of hard tap water;

- contamination of the sole of the iron due to non-observance of temperature conditions during ironing.

In order to overcome the first problem, you can use one of the following methods. You should dilute half a teaspoon of Antiscale in a glass of water, pour the liquid into the container of the iron and turn it on for 20-30 minutes. The scale will then flake off and the container can be rinsed with water.

You can remove scale and rust inside the iron with Silita or another similar product designed to combat this type of dirt. Turn the heated iron over and pour the cleaning agent into the holes in the soleplate. After 10 minutes, the device can be turned off and rinsed under running warm water.

It is recommended to use a special pencil, such as the Typhoon brand, to remove dirt from the soleplate. It can be purchased at hardware stores. When using it, you must strictly follow the manufacturer's instructions. The sole of the iron, heated to a certain temperature, is rubbed with a pencil, after a while the dirt begins to flake off, after which it can be removed. When used, the pencil melts and can give off a rather strong odor, so this procedure is best done in a well-ventilated area.

If you do not have such a pencil at hand, and the iron needs to be cleaned urgently, then you can use other methods. Sprinkle common salt on a newspaper or piece of cloth. It must be ironed with a hot iron. After a while, you will notice that the salt starts to get dirty and the iron cleans up. It should be noted that this method can damage the sole of the device.

You can also try cleaning the surface of a cold iron with baking soda or a little toothpaste. In addition, you can try to clean the sole with a cotton swab dipped in vinegar solution. After carrying out these procedures, the iron must be wiped with a damp and then dry cloth.

As you can see, there is nothing difficult in how to clean the iron. With one of these tips, you can update your iron and make it iron well.
