The old log house began to get cold quickly, and work was required to insulate it. Repairs are best done in summer. Wooden walls are well dried in the sun, temperature and humidity are stable, which is important when carrying out facade insulation. It is also better to prepare internal insulation in advance, before the onset of cold weather.

It is necessary

  • - insulation;
  • - vapor barrier;
  • - sealant;
  • - polyurethane foam;
  • - fire retardants;
  • - anti-mold primers;
  • - brushes and rollers.

Instructions

Step 1

Insulation of the attic Place a vapor barrier made of polyethylene, roofing felt or roofing on the attic floor. Pour a layer of loose insulating materials on it: expanded clay, slag, ecowool or sawdust with non-combustible additives. The layer thickness should be about 200 mm.

Step 2

Fill the insulation with cement screed. Dry well and cover with walking boards. Do not forget to treat everything with fireproof impregnations.

Step 3

Indoor wall insulation Remove wallpaper or decorative sheathing from the walls. Treat cleaned surfaces with deep penetrating anti-fungus primers.

Step 4

Check all corners and joints with the floor and ceiling for holes that are blowing out. Seal large holes with foam or tow. Make a new interior decoration.

Step 5

Thermal insulation of old windows Remove platbands, slopes and window sills from the inside of the house. Scrape out any gaps where the frame meets the wall. Fill with fresh polyurethane foam. Dry. Trim off any excess and replace any removed window trim parts.

Step 6

Place the glass on the silicone sealant, then nail in the glazing bead and refill with the sealant. Seal the frames.

Step 7

Insulation of the floor Cover the floor with a foil to prevent moisture penetration. Lay chipboards on top. Avoid cross stitches. Place the chosen floor covering on the base made. Such insulation will reduce the distance between the floor and the ceiling by at least 10 cm, which can be critical in an old house.

Step 8

If the country house has low ceilings, then pay attention to the walls, windows and attic, and lay a thick carpet on the floor.

Step 9

Insulation of the facade Treat the outer surface of the house with antiseptics and non-combustible impregnations. Fill up obvious holes with polyurethane foam. Clean out the distances between the crowns as much as possible and seal again.

Step 10

Make a lathing of the outer walls with a wooden bar, which coat with a fire retardant. Insert slabs with mineral wool or polystyrene foam insulation into the prepared cells. Secure the material with dowels. Cover with siding, brick or artificial stone on top.
