It is necessary

  • - salt;
  • - vinegar;
  • - hydrogen peroxide;
  • - baking soda;
  • - gauze;
  • - tooth powder or paste;
  • - pencil for cleaning irons.

Instructions

Step 1

The most popular and time-tested remedy for cleaning the surface of the iron is the familiar ordinary table salt. Sprinkle salt on white and clean paper. Do not use newspapers, ink can adversely affect the surface. Preheat the iron to the maximum setting, then gently “iron” the salt with light pressure. Follow this procedure until the surface is completely clean. Wipe the soleplate with a clean, dry woolen cloth. Alternatively, wrap the salt in several layers of gauze and rub the hot surface of the iron.

Step 2

Take a hydrogen peroxide solution. Wet a piece of gauze or bandage with it and wipe the hot soiled soleplate with such a swab. Contaminants with a small area can be cleaned with hydroperite by gently rubbing them with a whole tablet. Perform this operation in a well-ventilated area. When the peroxide evaporates, ammonia will be released. Work with rubber gloves.

Step 3

Dilute table vinegar with water, moisten a piece of cloth or gauze with the resulting solution. Avoid getting vinegar on your hands and eyes! Heat the iron and wipe the carbon deposits with this compound until the surface is completely clean. Place the iron on a cloth soaked in vinegar for several hours, wipe the soleplate with a damp cloth.

Step 4

Mix the baking soda into a mushy mixture. Apply it on the dirty surface of the iron, wait a few minutes and wipe off the baking soda with a clean cloth. Repeat this procedure until the desired effect.

Step 5

If your iron is Teflon coated, you may scratch the surface, so it is best to use a cleaning pencil available from your local hardware store. The Teflon coated soleplate can be cleaned with tooth powder or toothpaste.
