Siding is a fairly popular cladding material. This is due to the optimal ratio of its properties and price. In addition, you can sheathe the house with metal siding yourself. It is only necessary to correctly calculate the dimensions and total volume of the required panels, and also follow the instructions exactly.

It is necessary

  • - roulette;
  • - level;
  • - knife or scissors for metal cutting;
  • - nails or screws;
  • - a hammer;
  • - puncher;
  • - pliers;
  • - ladder or scaffolding.

Instructions

Step 1

Facing with siding allows you to give the house an aesthetic and well-groomed look. However, the material itself does not require careful maintenance. This is one of its many advantages. Metal siding has a long service life, protects the facade from mechanical damage and adverse weather conditions, as well as sudden temperature changes. It is also important that thanks to the installation of panels, it is possible to insulate the building and increase sound insulation without losing the internal area.

Step 2

Metal siding strips have special fasteners for connecting to each other. Thanks to this, the heads of nails and screws are hidden from the outside observer, giving a neat facade. To sheathe your home with metal siding yourself, follow the manufacturer's instructions. This will save yourself from mistakes, and the pages of this brochure often contain methods for installing panels in complex structural assemblies.

Step 3

Examine the facade of the house and remove any elements that might interfere with your work. These are plants with climbing stems, branches of trees growing too close to walls, etc. In addition, pipes, lanterns, window sills, water drains, and other special or decorative protruding objects must be removed. If the facade is wooden, pay attention to whether there are loose or leaky boards. If so, then these shortcomings need to be eliminated.

Step 4

Check the facing surface for unevenness. If there are any, correct them, otherwise the same irregularities will appear on the finished facade. Install thin wooden battens. Fill the spaces inside the cells with antiseptic to prevent decay, mildew and rust, and to prevent deformation of the siding panels. Instead of an antiseptic composition, you can lay an insulating material, this will increase the thermal insulation of the house.

Step 5

Start attaching the metal siding from the bottom edge. Nail launch panels around the entire perimeter of the house. Secure them by screwing in self-tapping screws or driving nails into the center of the oval hole provided for this. If they are not enough, then make new ones using a puncher. After finishing the entire bottom row, move on to the second, etc.

Step 6

Insert each strip first into the panel of the previous row. A special locking structure is intended for this. As soon as you hear a click, the panels are securely connected, you can nail. The principle of installing metal siding panels is designed so that there are no fasteners on the visible surface. This is because the nails are not driven into the panel itself, but into the bottom (horizontal siding) or side (vertical siding) strip. When hammering in nails, pull on the panel and do not press it too hard against the wall, otherwise it will lose its natural shape. However, she should not hang out either. This is the most painstaking part of the job.

Step 7

The oval shape of the holes allows the panels to move during temperature changes when the material expands or contracts. For the same purpose, leave a small distance between the nail head and the surface, about 1.5-2 mm. If, due to circumstances, you carry out installation in the cold season, then make the gap even larger.

Step 8

Cut the panels with a metal knife or fine-toothed saw. In the future, when returning previously removed items to the metal cladding, make holes in the panels with a larger diameter of 3-5 mm than required.

Step 9

At the corners of the building, connect the ends of the panels using special external corners. Use J-trims around window frames, doorways and for the top edge. They are named after this capital letter of the Latin alphabet for their shape, which allows for neat edging.
