Bioprotective agents reduce the flammability of wood and protect it from the effects of microorganisms and insects. The effectiveness of these funds depends not only on their composition, but also on the method of application.

In addition to the undoubted advantages, wood as a building material has several disadvantages: it burns easily and quickly collapses under the influence of pests, fungi, mold and bacteria. To minimize these disadvantages, the use of modern fire-bio-protection means - compounds that protect wood from fire and decay helps. With such compositions, you can process both wood products - timber, lumber, boards, and ready-made wooden structures.

What means are used for fire protection of wood

On the Russian market, there are imported and domestic products for wood processing. Regardless of the manufacturer, all impregnating compositions are aqueous solutions of fire retardants with the addition of an antiseptic. As a rule, the main components of impregnations are soda ash, sodium fluoride, copper sulfate and boric acid-based substances. Since many of these components are poisonous, precautions must be taken when applying impregnations: work in a well-ventilated area, use a respirator, goggles and rubber gloves. Store impregnations out of the reach of children and pets.

Features of applying fire-retardant agents

Most of the protective preparations are effective only when applied to dry wood, which must be taken into account before starting treatment. A disposable coating with fire-retardant impregnation will not give a result, therefore experts recommend repeating the procedure in half an hour or an hour.

Before processing, the surface of the wood should be thoroughly cleaned of dirt, resin, mold and paintwork, using detergents, "Whiteness", solvent R-646, a metal brush. After that, you can apply the protectant with a roller or hard brush. Processing is carried out only at a positive ambient temperature. If the impregnation contains sodium fluoride, it should not be allowed to come into direct contact with cement, lime and alabaster.

The effectiveness of fire-retardant impregnation depends not only on its composition, but also on the type of wood, processing conditions, and the accuracy of the technological process. The best results are obtained by an integrated approach: application of a fire-retardant composition plus an external coating with mastic, paint or varnish.
